Free Twitter Card checker

Twitter Card Preview

X shut down its Card Validator preview in 2022 — since then, there is no official way to see a card before you post it. Paste your URL below to preview the summary and summary_large_image formats and check every twitter:* tag.

What the checker validates

Card format

Whether twitter:card is present and valid, and which format X will use — small summary thumbnail or full-width large image.

Fallback chain

X reads twitter:title, then og:title, then the page title — the preview shows exactly which value wins for your page.

Image health

The image is loaded for real: broken URLs, undersized images, and non-HTTPS sources are flagged with the fix.

Sharing on more than one platform? Use the full social card preview to check Facebook, LinkedIn, and Slack too.

One template, a card for every post

Stop exporting card images by hand. Design one template, then generate the image for every page or post with a single API call — from your CMS, your build step, or an automation workflow.

Frequently asked questions

Is there still an official Twitter Card Validator?

Not really. The Card Validator at cards-dev.twitter.com stopped showing previews in 2022 — it now only reports whether the page is crawlable, with no visual. This tool fills that gap: paste a URL and see the card exactly as X renders it, plus the twitter:* tags behind it.

What is the difference between summary and summary_large_image?

They are the two twitter:card values that matter for links. summary shows a small square thumbnail beside the title and description; summary_large_image shows a full-width image above the text — the format most sites want. This checker previews whichever your page declares, and warns if the tag is missing.

Why does my link show no card on X at all?

Usually one of three things: the twitter:card tag is missing and the Open Graph fallback is incomplete, the image fails to load or is too small, or the page blocks X's crawler (Twitterbot) in robots.txt. Run your URL through the checker above to see which one it is.

What size should the twitter:image be?

For summary_large_image, use a 2:1 image — 1200×628 or 1200×630 pixels is the standard. The minimum is 300×157 and the file must stay under 5 MB. A 1200×630 image also works for Facebook, LinkedIn, and Slack, so one image covers all four platforms.
