Free OG checker

Social Card Preview

Paste a URL to see exactly how the link will look on X, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Slack — and get a tag-by-tag check of the Open Graph and Twitter Card meta tags behind it. No login, no signup.

The official validators are gone

X removed the preview from its Card Validator in 2022. Facebook's Sharing Debugger now sits behind a Facebook login. LinkedIn's Post Inspector only covers LinkedIn. So most people find out their link preview is broken the moment they share it — in front of their audience.

This checker fetches your page the same way the crawlers do and shows all four platforms side by side, before you hit publish.

Faithful previews

Card mockups for each platform, including X's summary vs summary_large_image formats and Slack's unfurl layout.

Tag-by-tag lint

Missing og:image, wrong image size, absent twitter:card, truncated titles — every issue listed with the fix.

Fix it on the spot

No social image? Generate a 1200×630 Open Graph image with our free generator, or automate one per page via the API.

Never ship a broken card again

Checking is manual. Generating is not: design one Open Graph template, then create the image for every page you publish with a single API call.

Frequently asked questions

What does this tool check?

It fetches your page the same way a social crawler does and reads the tags that control link previews: the Open Graph tags (og:title, og:description, og:image, og:url, og:site_name) and the Twitter Card tags (twitter:card, twitter:title, twitter:image). You see how the link renders on X, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Slack, plus a list of anything missing, broken, or the wrong size.

Why does my link show no image when I share it?

The most common causes: there is no og:image tag at all, the tag points to an image that fails to load, the image is smaller than the platform's minimum (Facebook ignores anything under 200×200 pixels), or the image is served over plain http. Paste your URL above — the checker tests all four.

What happened to the Twitter Card Validator and the Facebook Debugger?

X removed the preview from its Card Validator in 2022 — it no longer shows you the card. Facebook's Sharing Debugger still works but requires you to log in with a Facebook account. This checker needs neither: paste a URL and see all four platforms side by side.

What size should my og:image be?

1200×630 pixels is the safe answer. It renders as a large card on X, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Slack, and stays sharp on retina screens. The hard floor is 200×200 (Facebook ignores anything smaller), and below 600 pixels wide Facebook downgrades the preview to a small thumbnail.

Do you store the URLs or pages I check?

No. We fetch the page once to read its meta tags, run the checks, and discard the content. The only thing kept is an anonymous per-IP counter so the free tool stays free (30 checks per day).

Can I generate the social images automatically?

Yes — that is what TemplateFox is for. Design one Open Graph template, then generate an image for every page you publish with a single API call. Your CMS, blog pipeline, or automation workflow calls the endpoint; the tags never go stale.
