Free Facebook link preview checker

Facebook OG Preview

Facebook's own Sharing Debugger requires a Facebook login. This one doesn't: paste a URL to see the share card as Facebook renders it, with a check of your og:image size and every Open Graph tag.

What the checker validates

Image sizing rules

Facebook's thresholds are strict: under 200×200 the image is ignored, under 600 pixels wide you get a small thumbnail. The image is loaded and measured for real.

First-share caching

Without og:image:width and og:image:height, the first share of a fresh URL can appear with no image at all. The checker flags it before it happens.

The full OG set

og:title, og:description, og:url, og:site_name — each tag checked, with the fallback Facebook uses when one is missing.

Sharing on more than one platform? Use the full social card preview to check X, LinkedIn, and Slack too.

Give every page its own share image

Pages with a real og:image get the click. Design one template, then generate a 1200×630 image for every page you publish with a single API call — no designer in the loop.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Facebook show no image for my link?

Four usual suspects: the og:image tag is missing, the image URL fails to load, the image is smaller than Facebook's 200×200 pixel minimum, or it is served over plain http. The checker above tests all four and tells you which one applies to your page.

What size should my og:image be for Facebook?

1200×630 pixels — a 1.91:1 ratio. Facebook shows a large card for images at least 600 pixels wide; below that it falls back to a small square thumbnail, and below 200×200 it shows nothing. The same 1200×630 image also works on X, LinkedIn, and Slack.

Facebook is showing an old image — how do I refresh it?

Facebook caches link previews aggressively. Updating the tags on your page is not enough: you have to ask Facebook to re-scrape the URL through its Sharing Debugger (which requires a Facebook login). Adding og:image:width and og:image:height helps a different problem — without them, the very first share can appear without an image.

Do I need this if the Sharing Debugger exists?

The Sharing Debugger works, but it requires logging in to a Facebook account and only covers Facebook. This checker needs no login and previews X, LinkedIn, and Slack alongside Facebook, with a lint of every relevant tag.
